It's essentially 3 simple things, not a major new feature type thing.
1) Subtitle track OSD
- Display which subtitle language track is being toggled while the movie is playing, like on a DVD player. 2) Old Subtitle button action behaviour CiteULike: Eye movements of children and adults while reading :: With standard subtitling, reading behavior in the subtitle was observed, but there was a difference between one-and two-line subtitles. http://www.citeulike.org/group/214/article/1672782HOME | [ubuntu/intrepid] vlc 0.9.3-0ubuntu1 (Accepted):: Sep 28, 2008 Various bugfixes: * Fixed DTS channel order on 5.1 systems * Fixed pausing behavior for subtitles and for Audio-CD * Multiple subtitles and http://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/intrepid-changes/2008-September/007692.htmlHOME |
- The old 'NextSubtitle' button action behaviour was like this:
Off -> Language1 -> Language2 -> Off
But now there are two separate actions, one to turn it on and off and one to toggle between languages. The old way was better.

1) Definable charset for .srt subtitle files in AdvancedSettings.xml
- We already define language codes in the advancedsettings.xml; it'd be nice if I could also define the charset encoding for that language code and have xbmc automatically read that setting and change it on for you. Right now you have to manually change it yourself in the video settings if you were going from Hebrew subs to Chinese subs for example.
I realize this is impossible to implement for vobsubs, but most vobsubs only come in english, french, spanish, dutch. But since I speak a "foreign language" I usually gotta go grab myself and I almost always only deal with .ssa,.txt,.srt files. All text based with different charset encoding.
