I DID have a VX2000 until I "sacrified" it for my 20d :(
This is the reason you have to read the whole message. I read the first line and then the last. I couldn't figure out why you would buy a 20d if you already had 2 MkII's. Then I read the rest and got a good laugh. ***Latest Assignment: "What's in your bag?" (22 Oct - 12 Nov :: 10 posts - Last post: Oct 29The theme is "What's in your bag?" I don't have the most expensive equipment, but I do have multiple bags.
Main bag - aka(I'm going out with the intention of making art bag).
Nikon FG
18-24mm
50mm
100mm
80-200mm
polarizing filter
UV filter
cable release
Rubber hood
Cleaning cloth and brush
macro extender rings
magnifying lenses
Canon rebel X (S) film camera with tamron 28-200mm lens.
OSN 7003 tripod
Imitation trekker backpack.
My small bag (looks like a small messenger bag):
Either a
zorki4 with jupiter 12 lens or yashica electro 35 gs
My small small bag (looks like a purse):
Olympus XA
So, it depends on what my intentions are and what kind of pictures I want to make. Best part of it is . . . All of the above cost me $700 all together (and the tripod cost $140 of it). Ebay is the best if you're careful.
Now I'm saving my pennies until the next generation pro-digital cameras come out (or until my father gives me his canon 20d).
Nikon F501
Nikkor F4~5.6 70~300mm
Nikkor F4 35~75mm
Nikkor F2.8 20mm wide angle
2 polarized filters, 52mm and 62mm
Some lens cleaning supply
Remote trigger
... and a bunch of shells picked from a beach in Auckland NZ.
I just recently bought a 20d with a 17-85mm lens that I use with a tripod and 1gb Ultra II card, but I'm already thinking about selling it and buying a rangefinder. I'm not a professional, so I don't necessarily need all of the features it provides, and I just feel uncomfortable carrying it with me everywhere - I enjoy doing urban shots as well as nature, so being able to have it with me 24/7 is key. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Nikon D70
Sigma 50-500mm
Nikon 70-300mm
Nikon 28-80mm
2X512MB CF cards
1X1GB CF card
Manfrotto monopod & tilt head
All carried in a Lowepro mini trekker AW pack
I've got an SLR bag and a Rangefinder bag, depending what I think the subject and the occasion needs :D
In my SLR bag I have:
Oly OM4Ti loaded with Fuji Velvia & a Zuiko 50mm F/1.8;
Oly OM10QD loaded with Ilford Delta 400 B&W print-film with a Tokina RMC 35-70mm F/3.5 - 4.5 zoom;
Oly T32 flash;
Zuiko 135mm F/2.8;
Zuiko 28mm F/2.8;
Sigma 28mm F/2.8 with a close-up lens permanently attached to it (for close-up work);
Cheap-o-matic 2x tele-converter, which gets used very rarely but sure as day follows night, I guarantee the first time I ever leave it behind I know I'll suddenly need a 270mm lens for that 'once in a lifetime' shot;
Cable release, lens-cleaner, cotton buds, 2 empty film-canisters; 2 spare SR44 batteries
In my Rangefinder bag I have:
Oly 35SP rangefinder with Kodak Elite Chrome 100 slide film;
Oly Trip 35 (original metal battery-less version) with Kodak Gold 200 print film;
Oly T20 flash;
Cable release, lens-cleaner, cotton buds, 2 empty film-canisters; 1 spare zinc/air 1.35V battery for the 'SP
I'll make a concious decision in advance as to which bag I'm going to take on a shoot, and usually sling my Kodak 6490 digicam round my neck as well, just in case I need it.
I also have a cheap aluminium tripod that I drag out with me for landscape shoots.
I'm looking to officially-retire the OM10QD after Christmas and get an Oly 35RC to put my B&W film in, and keep that in my Rangefinder bag. I won't sell the OM10QD because it was my father's camera (I'm too sentimental!) but I don't think I need two SLRs. With that gone, I'll retire the teleconvertor and fill the space vacated by the OM10QD with my rarely-used but useful Tamron 70-200mm F/3.8-4.5 zoom
A typical Event Work kit:
-10D, EOS 5 (A2E) - I actually carry both these in seperate bags.
-Canon 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-300, Sigma 12-24, UV filter.

-Sandisk Ultra Compact Flash Card(s), Tri-X, T-Max, 400UC

I finally decided to join this forum after a couple months of lurking on it. What better way to introduce myself by telling you what I shoot with:
My main kit consists of:
OM-2 black
28 f/2.8 (just got it :D )
50 f/1.4
75-150 f/4 - good zoom, but I hope to replace it with the 100 f/2.8
300 f/4.5
This is the kit I like to use the most, and am more willing to dump money into :P They're all Zuikos, by the way
My secondary kit is what I call my "automatic kit", for those times when you need speed (AF and such):
Minolta Maxxum 70
28-100 f/3.5-f/5.6
50 f/1.7
I shoot black and white in both, usually Tri-X, occasionally TMAX. I also have my pretty little Manfrotto "Wilderness" tripod (3228 something something) which I'm in love with. Even if it's booger green. I shoot people, landscapes, and whatever else I happen to see. I hope to get into Large Format as the days go on, preferably before I goto Germany next year. I hope I have something I can add to this wonderful community. You've helped me out in the past when I lurked, so thank you!
D70 w/ 70-300mm nikkor. 81a, 81b, c-pl
N80 w28-80mm nikkor 812 warm, c-pl.
mini mag lite, 5x8 notebook, pile spare batteries, vivitar flash unit(cheep junk), heap b+w film, color print film.
What can actually fit in the bag I have:
-Pentax K1000 w/ attached 50mm lens w/ attached UV filter
-cable release
-lens cleaning paper
What I have but won't fit in the bag:
-80-200mm zoom lens (almost fits in the bag when attached to camera)
-fairly cheap tripod; although it's better than the old one I used to have
-the D70 that is trapped in my dreams so it can't get into the bag :drool:
My landscapes kit consists of:
Super Speed Graphic
90mm f/8 Schneider
150mm f/5.6 Schneider
Sekonic 508 meter
dark cloth (made by me own muther :love: )
a couple of cable releases
lens hoods
filters: red, orange, yellow, green, polarizer
lupe
roll of black electricians' tape
Leatherman tool
white cotton glove
marker
All of that fits in a small backpack. Then there's the Bogen tripod, and an insulated lunch bag/box thing that holds 10 to 20 film holders loaded with Arista Pro 125 and 400 film.
My most compact kit would be the Ansco Titan (in my avatar) and a couple of rolls of ISO 400.
i always seem to need more room in my bag...
