I would actually NOT reccomend a dwarf hamster. Especially a russian dwarf.
They are aggresive.
They are very hyper.
They are hard to handle.
I don't know much about other breeds, but i would look into them.

i bought a dwarf hamster for 3 bucks and it died 3 weeks later. they BITE BITE BITE BITE BITE!!!!!! it went up my sleeve once and it hurt. i would get a different kid of hamster. i have had black bear, honey bear, and panda. all stopped biting after a couple days. daffodil was biting her whole 3 week life.
