What is a MBA type?:: Kogod Business School: American University: Dean's Annual Address (9/30/03) According to conventional wisdom, MBAs are arrogant, greedy, controlling, http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=324905HOME | Why is it you never see french, german, british, australian, russian, or pretty much anyone from any other country being a retarded about how they think their country is so great. Why does it seem to just be ignorant americans that think they have it all and know whats best? Im not saying all americans do it but you just never, or very rarely see people from other countries doing it.
Seeing as I live in France.
Have been to several other countries.
and lived in America for 16 years.
I am just going to say I see your point.
BUT it is like that in many countries.
America has spread to other countries and because of so their "arrogance " is more known. they have a large influence in the media, even in foreign countries, so people have come up with the stereotype that americans are ignorant and arrogant. when in fact they are just proud/patriotic. Methods for body height increase:: Add to this the arrogance that American medicine is superior because it's Some do wonderful work, care about the job and try to do what's best for the http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=96896HOME |
You donâ ™t even know how many French people I know that show the same traits as I saw in America. When I traveled around europe, same thing.
Hope that helped =)
Excuse me,
but you are stereotyping.
I am American and I hate the way my country acts. I try to be worldly. I watch the news, debate, travel the world, and speak English and Spanish fluently along with some French and Italian. I am not happy with the way our country is perceived. True, I know many people that fit the stereotype but it is embarrassing for me, for I try not to form to that mold. I eat healthy, and run every day (I am not the average fat American). I am sure that there are people who are arrogant in other countries as well, but America probably comes off as arrogant more so because it is the Hedgamon currently.
Best of Wishes and
Hope that I could give you a different perspective.
This note was not meant to be offensive in any way.
You are over-simplifying when you say that you "never see". You've had your rant. I hope that you read and ABSORB some of the intelligent and factual answers others have written. You wouldn't want to continue to lash out with ignorant prejudice when you could have some concrete basis for an informed opinion. Keep on growing, my good man.
I know what you mean, and it is very true, it's a special brand of national pride only Americans have.
I think it's down to how American children are brought up and the nationalism pushed by various public holidays partcularly 4th July. The national anthem is much more widely sung than in any other country in my experience and it is usually followed by renditions of 'proud to be an american' etc. American politics also centre on the sentimentalism of how American is the greatest nation in the world. I can't imagine British politics ever taking that line!
American children aren't taught to criticise and evaluate as much as British children, and have sarcasm etc is not very natural in America. Hence a lot mroe brainwashing and willingness to believe what you hear.
On the other hand America is probably up there with the best and most powerful countries in the world so perhaps there is 'some' justification to the arrogance. Ironically it's the arrogance itself and the non-outside-the-box-ability of Americans that is America's greatest flaw and worldwide embarassment.
actually you do....
Getting along with people at work that give you :: You may feel intimidated by someone's arrogant personality, .. that my answer reminded you of Ben Franklin, who happens to be the American I admire most. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/582842.htmlHOME |
but come on, when has hubris ever brought anyone down?
because Americans have more nationalism
Cause we saved them . Underlying feeling's of insecurity!
I know the kind of rampant nationalism you're referring to... it is embarrassing, it's so bad.
However, it's unfortunately not confined to the USA (just think of all those lovely English football fans singing "Two world wars and one world cup" every time they meet Germany... sigh...). Maybe the reason you notice it is that those from the USA have more opportunity to broadcast their views because it's a very media-oriented culture (and household internet penetration is very high).
There is a strong element of media-obsession in the UK and Australia. Personally, I hate it - the internet is generally a good thing, but it has given too many people with bad grammar, poor though processes and just a hint of ignorance the opportunity to spout their random bile in all directions.... whether in writing, via youtube, podcasts, or any other random method that web 2.0 can dream up.
In any decent society, they'd be shunned by the rest of society, rapped over the knuckles for being such idiots, or potentially put in the stocks for a few days...
Do we have enough stocks for the red-necks of America and the English football fans???
Just a thought... ;o)
Excuse Me.
You must be very worldly, and very educated in human behavior. Or I am blind and arrogant because I only see it as pride.
I have been to a few countries and have seen the good and bad in each of them. They are in no way shining examples of human beings.
But let me say this, I am PROUD to be an AMERICAN and I really do not give a SH** what you think.
Don't like AMERICANS? Than Stay OUT, GO HOME, PISS OFF, DON'T CALL US WE'LL CALL YOU (NOT!!!!!!)
Have a nice day.
