| | I am wondering because we are going to take them to the vet to have them tell us what the genders are, are they old enough to go in a car ride? They are 3 and a half weeks old.
guinea pig babies are ready to be away from the mother as soon as they are born. within hours. its a survival thing.
NOT TRUE!! Guinea pig babies must be kept with the mum until AT LEAST 3 weeks of age. if you see suspicious behaviour, (the babies tryin to mate w/ eachother of the mum) then u need to seperate them. if not they should stay with her for like 5 weeks. it's really not a good idea to take any guinea pig in the car. obviously it's nescessary sometimes but don't do it when u don't have to. i suggest not taking em to the vet to get them sexed (their gender told) cuz vets sometimes mistake their gender (i know from experience!) and u can easily tell the gender by yourself. if you look at their "bottom" and you gently spread it open, if there's only one section it's a boy. if there's an obvious 2 sections it's a girl. also it makes a little Y shape and the boy's bottom usually looks like just an I. try searching guinea pig sexing on google for more tips on how to tell their gender at home. hope this helps! I would ring up the vet and ask as im not sure if you want to take them in the car then take the mother with them.
