Look on petfinder.com , it's your best bet. It'll give you some guinea pigs in your area, and many are in shelters. If you rescue a guinea pig from a shelter, you will feel so good that u saved a life
I don't you'll find any reputable sellers or healthy guinea pigs without paying for them.
Guinea pigs aren't too expensive - £20 at most (about $40).
There may be an animal shelter near you though that has a few guinea pigs in.
If you want one for free because you can't afford to buy one you maybe should reconsider whether you get one or not as you also need to buy them a cage, straw or hay, sawdust or catlitter, dry food, a water bottle, vitamins and normal foods like lettuce/cucumber/apple etc.
Also you'll need to buy new sawdust, hay, vitamins and food pretty regularly.
Also remember they can live up to 8 years. I've owned guinea pigs for thirteen years and my current guinea pig is only my second. My first guinea pig lived for 8 years and my current piggy is coming up on 5. Legal Lynching by Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., Jesse Jackson, Jr., and :: the guinea pig in an unprecedented experiment: the first attempt to execute a his home, tells reporters, I should have been excited myself to be at Auburn. http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl/display.pperl?is780385722117&view=excerptHOME |
Hope this helps x
Edit: you should never buy a guinea pig online.
Number 1 you have no idea of how healthy they are
2 - you have no idea what conditions they are being kept in
3 - the sellers may be totally incompetent
4 - you're going to have your guinea pig for a long time you want to go to a shop to see it and hold it and know it is well natured and that you and it can bond.
It may sound like I'm being silly and over the top but I know people who have been bought guinea pigs for presents without having 'met' them and they haven't properly fallen in love with them or they've had bad tempers.
Go to a store or shelter and you'll know straight away which guinea pig you want.
go craigslist
look in all the local news papers and i guarantee you will find one. but you might have to be patient
Go on craigslist or ebay and people will be giving them away or selling them for close to nothing(1-5 dollars)
There are a ton of guinea pigs near you that need homes! There's even a shelter for guinea pigs right near you.

That's a list of homeless guinea pigs in Auburn. Some might be free, but you'll still be paying for the cage, food, vet visits, toys, etc.
