It does not necessarily come from one single place. Looking at family files at rootsweb, I see mention of Panama, Chile, Mexico. That indicates a POSSIBLE origin of the name in Spain, but not proof.
You need to work with finding where your father's father (on back) was born. Since we cannot be sure who that was.. any answer here is just guessing.
If you go to rootsweb.com, there is a guide to how you start the process of finding the documentation to ancestry. Always work from you, back. You MIGHT see if your grandfather or his family is in the family files there, since there do seem to be a number of listings.
