You know...those colleges that have a greater reputation/name instead of greater preparedness for the real world. Which college(s) do you think is overrated? Why? (your personal experiences would be preferrable)
10 POINTS goes to most thorough answer!!!
University of Arkansas. A general feeling of great unfriendliness and brattiness make this overfunded university (thank you Waltons) much ado about nothing. Drop out rate is half those who attend. These people hate northerneers still BTW-and thats no stereotype I lived there....
MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. ------I know people who attended and taught here. Big reddneck establishment. Faculty really stick together, and do very little to improve the quality of attendance.
Best i can do short notice.
All of them, if you phrase it that way. I mean, the school itself is not going to prepare you if you don't know what you want to do. I went to school and majored in something that was far too difficult for me, I did decent, but I learned very little. I don't think I am more prepared for the real world than someone who didn't go to college, but has years of work experience. So, there you go. - Boston University. Nothing wrong with BU. I'm not dissing BU. But it's got a far stronger rep than comparable schools in the area, for no reason that I can see. It's not like it's a significantly stronger college than, say, Northeastern or UMass Amherst or UConn, or any harder to get into, but it has a far stronger rep. That's great for BU and its students. Good for them. But the school is thus, in my opinion, kind of overrated.
- Northeastern. People see Northeastern as being stronger than certain other schools in that region, and it is not. But it has made *great* strides over the last 20 years. I'm glad it's so well respected now. That's great. But I get the impression that, because it's private, people think that means it's much better than, for example, UConn or SUNY Binghamton and etc. That said, I think Northeastern is a great school. It's more that the others I'm mentioning are underrated.
- Seton Hall. That school really isn't particularly strong, or very hard to get into. I mean it's all right. Nothing wrong with it. But it's a bit overrated. It's rep is stronger than it's admission standards. Good for them! That benefits their students.
