I recently ordered two items online. One is the Dell Studio Desktop that has an HDMI port (output), and the other is a 42" LG flat-planel HDTV, which I plan to use (partly) as the monitor for the deskop.
I just want to know what HDMI cable I should get? male to male? male to female? I still have not received the items yet, so I can't just look at it to see what fits. I hope to get the cables in advance so I can hook everything up on the day I get all my stuff.
Without a doubt, go with the male-male HDMI. I've not yet seen a piece of hardware that requires a female end. The female-male cable would most likely be used as an extension for an existing cable. On a side note, don't pay big bucks for a fancy, supposedly better cable. You'll get great quality out of cheaper cables, and it won't burn an unnecessary hole in your pocket.
Hope that helps.
Most people don't realize that HDMI cables are merely component and audio cables compressed into a convenient 1 plug. you probably already have audio cables(white/red). I purchased 6ft component cables (red/green/blue) from ebay recently for $8.00 plus shipping.
