Go to Anna Maria Island.
It is much prettier than either of those.

I have been to both, and I have went back to Clearwater beach several times, never have I returned to Daytona Beach, the city is dirty and the ocean isn't very warm, Clearwater is clean and warm, plus the town is really neat, I recommend you eat at Frenchy's on the beach, wonderful food and the atmosphere is really neat. hit the pier for sunset, the prettiest thing you will ever see !! The gulf is much cleaner then the Atlantic. Florida's SunCoast::

We pretty much had the entire beach to ourselves. It was sooooo quiet. When we go backwe will go to Daytona. I liked it a lot better than Clearwater.

I'm an ocean wave energy person myself, so I'd go with Daytona.
The gulf is more picturesque than the Ocean. So I'd say Clearwater. Water is warmer than the ocean and clearer. Clearwater for sunset and Daytona for sunrises. Of course in Daytona you can drive on the beach in places. Hey, do both, you can catch a sunrise in Daytona and the sunset in Clearwater - 3.5 - 4 hours depending on traffic allows for both. HOW FUN. Can I come along?
