Who first thought of this? Does it hurt? Was it hard to learn? I am fascinated with the grace and strength of ballet dancers and I have always wondered about this position.
Im glad you dont think its for pusies. Um for me it didn't hurt that much as the other girls because my toes were quite strong to start and my teacher put me on pointe quite late --15 -- so I had the strength I needed rather than being put up at 11 and not have enough strength. also you do 15 minutes of pointe when you first start per lesson to build up calusses, we didnt wear padding so it doesnt hurt that much for me because I never wore padding, but now I do with this new company, but very thin to feel the floor. Do you mean being en pointe? Yes, it does hurt. Alot. It is as hard to learn as other ballet moves. You just have to work super hard. I'm glad you are so interested in ballet. Many people think it is for girly girls and easy. And are they wrong! Maybe they should do ballet for a week and see if they feel any different.
