WHO WOULD REV. KING VOTE FOR?

Published by: admin 2009-01-09

  • Should a Christian Vote?::
by God, when Samuel thought he knew who should be the next king over Israel, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable

KNOWING THAT REV. KING ESPOUSED TOLERANCE FOR THE COLOR OF A MANS SKIN, AND TO BE HERALDED FOR THE CHARACTER AND CONTENT OF HIS HEART.. WHOM DO YOU THINK HE WOULD VOTE FOR TODAY, KNOWING THAT AS A MINISTER HE MUST HAVE BEEN PRO-LIFE AN PRO- MARRIAGE? THE CANDIDATE THAT IS PRO-LIFE, PRO-MARRIAGE AND WHITE. OR THE CANDIDATE WHO IS A RADICAL EXTREMIST ON DENYING SUSTAINING THE LIFE OF A NEWBORN, THE SACRED UNION OF A MAN AND A WOMAN AND BLACK???

  • The Rev King would realize that with Obama's shady friendships, his ignorance and lack of experience, his arrogance and his out-and-out lies and deceptions -http://obamawtf.blogspot.com/2008/05/doc... - (as well as his playing the race card at any opportunity), he (Obama) has a greater chance of screwing things up royally and embarrasing the black community as a whole. The damage done through the incompetence of an Obama administration could put a stigma on future blacks wanting to run for public office.

Above all, King espoused judging a person by the "content of their character" and between Ayers, Wright, Gorlick, Rezco, Kahlidi, Dohrn, Pfleger, Barack's character (and the character of his chosen friends) doesn't seem too stellar.

In this case especially, Rev. Martin Luther King would not be judging the man by the color of his skin.

  • He would vote McCain, and denounce Obama as a fraud.

  • I think he would have voted for Mike Huckabee.

  • I can't imagine him voting for Obama but I think that answer died when he did...who knows...

  • I don't think I've ever seen anything that indicated where Rev. King stood on the choice debate. And I certainly don't know of anything that shows the once-married Obama is the one who denies the "sacred" union of a man and woman, as opposed to McCain, who left his first wife one she was no longer as attractive as she was when they got married. He'd vote for Obama, of course.

  • I'm pretty sure he'd vote for Obama, don't you think? The slaughter of innocents in Iraq would be enough to convince him.
Peoples Weekly World - Dr. King Day observed across the nation::
Rev. King made America better by disagreeing with it when it was profoundly distributed leaflets calling for a City Council vote against the Patriot Act.

    Political Punch::
I voted in 1983 against the recognition of Martin Luther King.I regret that vote. Also how many of you have listened to Rev Wrights speech?

King's stance on abortion is pure speculation, of course. You do know that not all ministers are pro-life and anti-gay, right?

EDIT: Ah, so *you're* the one who determines what a *real* minister is. Thanks for the clarification. I daresay Dr. King would not have met your standards.

  • 1. He was pro-life
    2. He was pro-marriage
    3. He was pro-personal responsibility
    4. He respected everyone opinions and did not tolerate hate-speech
    5. He judged people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin

Given those points, I believe he would have supported Senator McCain.

  • why are you screaming? it is frowned upon. being that Dr. King was a republican, my guess is he'd vote for Mccain

  • He would vote for Obama. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Billboards...
"The King Center in Atlanta says there is no proof that King was ever a Republican. "
Rev. Joseph Lowery, who knew King well, said there is no reason why anyone would think King was a Republican. He said King most certainly voted for President Kennedy, and the only time he openly talked about politics was when he criticized Republican Barry Goldwater during the 1964 presidential campaign.

"That was not the Martin I know and I don't think they can substantiate that by any shape, form or fashion. It's purely propaganda and poppycock," Lowery said. "Even if he was, he would have nothing to do with what the Republican Party stands for today. Do they think Martin would support George W. Bush and the war in Iraq?"

In "The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr.," which was published after his death from his written material and records, King called the Republican national convention that nominated Goldwater a "frenzied wedding ... of the KKK and the radical right. The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism," King said in the book.

  • While no one can truly know the answer, I believe, as do you, that The Reverend Martin Luther King would vote prolife, and promarriage. It is my belief that he would be considered a Moral Conservative today. He was an Evangelical Christian after all.

    MINISTER
    S.F.C.U.

  • If the Rev. was a true american and did background checks on the 2 candidates, he would pick John McCain. Obama a pretty shady character ,and it clearly shows.

  • Whew! I' think you've got some serious issues here.
I think Rev King would vote for Obama despite some of the other important issues you mention.
My reasoning is that McCain will support the existing regime who have run torture camps, imprisoned people without charges or expediant trials, committed us to unjust wars, who would rather run ripshod through serious environmental issues, and not care for our sick, old or dependants.
I've heard more hate against one party or the other this campaign that we should seriously think of our greed and jeolousy reflected by these comments. I hold the McCain platform responsible for creating a civil war this election which combats voter agains voter, without addressing concerns for either. I regret the selection of Gov Palin as a running-mate only solidifies this opinion.
I'm a serious republican and a Vietnam Veteran but am heart-sick and ashamed at the party I've supported for nearly 40 years.
Let's hope God returns to the voting booth with us next month to get us out of this one.

  • McCain because you become conservative the older you get. King would be in his 90s

  • he would vote for McCain

  • Martin Luther King was a republican.

In my opinion he would be appalled at the "content and character" of Obama

  • I dont think he would vote for either of these idiots.

  • His family has already come out and said that if he were alive today, he would not support someone such as Barack Obama. MLK was very conservative, and he would have been disgusted with our society if he had lived long enough to see how it has evolved since 1968.

  • I love Rev. King and his wife and don't feel they would believe whats going on today with the corruption and greed, they would not be to happy with either one, the man-child or McCain

  • John McCain of course ! Cant you see Libby's ? You cant win when it comes to moral issues . Morality is not in your vocabulary . MLK was one of the most Beautiful,Moral,Human beings of the 20th Century!

  • He would vote for the person who stands for the average working man/woman. He would definitely NOT stand for racism, and vote against a person just because of their color/race..

    He would NOT BE RACIST!

  • Well normally I would say 'Obama', because I have a positive IQ, but putting the argument into all-caps really makes me think you have a point there.

  • MLK never vote for Obama . He was a Republican . The Rebulican party was formed to abolish slavery.
    Here are more facts .

Please help get the word out .

  • I believe Dr. King would be able add some sense to this mess. But at the same time had Dr.King not been killed, the civil rights movement would have never got off the ground.

And the liberals today are nothing like the liberals back then. Today's liberal spouts such vile hate and rumors. Look what lies and slander they spout against Sarah Pailin and her family. Dr. King would never have allowed this type of behavior.

If you want my opinion Dr. King was the modern day Messiah.

I also don't believe James Earl Ray acted alone. He was not smart enough to organize that event. There was some information he had that had to come from the inside of Dr. Kings camp.

When he was coming to town
    Where he was staying
What room was he staying in.
Then he had to book the room directly across the court yard
Then he had to know that Dr. King was going to go out on his balcony
and many other details that even the local law did not know.

    Mike

  • You can be sure he would know vote for a pro abortion muslim.

  • PROBABLY MCCAIN SINCE HE WAS AND WILL BE ALWAYS A ROLE MODEL TO PEOPLE OF ANY COLOR! HE WAS FOR FAIRNESS FOR ALL REGARDLESS OF THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN!

  • He would prioritize his political values and recognize that Obama would address the needs of the struggling "have nots", and place this above any concern for marriage and abortion. You cannot possibly succeed in casting MLK into the kind of redneck-mentality that you prefer.
