I thought they did not have any religion or spirituality, so how can they answer questions about topics they do not practice?

that doesn't mean they don't know about it. the more you know, the less likely you are to believe in religion. i'm not talking about "god", per se, but organized religion.

Most atheists here do know a lot about religion, hence why they answer questions.

Spiritually is not limited to belief in God. When God created man, He created us with a spiritual nature so it is logical to find people as spiritual creatures regardless of belief. Also, this is a place to explore beliefs; there is nothing wrong with nonbelievers questioning, in fact I have found my own knowledge expand because of questions I would not have considered on my own.
I'm not atheist. I guess I'm agnostic. Anyway, I'll believe what the evidence supports and I've seen none to support a god. I enjoy the R & S section. I like to opine about this topic just as much as any religious person does and why shouldnt I? I certainly am not trying to persuade people to change by voicing my opinion. I'm just fascinated that so many people can believe all this religious stuff that to me just seems so obviously garbage. Its very entertaining. No hate mail from me, a lot of brilliant answers, some completely off topic, some just plain bizarre.
Religion, I am afraid to say, belongs to the dark ages, and anyone who believes that the bible, the quran and other religous tomes are not largely fiction are maybe beyond all hope. Those who do not believe in gods or religion often like to try to explain why this outdated concept should be abandoned. Fact: virtually ever war since records began was caused by religion. Fact: there is and cannot be any evidence that any god exists outside of peoples imagination.
So, how can I answer as I don't practice religion. Well, for example, I have never practised murder but I can answer questions about it just as well as almost anyone else

Atheists have no belief in god.
They can have both religion and spirituality.
Buddhism, LaVeyan Satanism, and a handful of other religions are atheistic.
Spirituality - well, "spirit" has several meanings. To me, being spiritual is being focused on the human experience - love, music, art, emotion, philosophy, etc.
I consider myself a spiritual atheist, but I rarely describe myself as one because it just causes confusion.
I am a top contributor here I suppose because I am in this section more often than not and have enough points and best answers to get a little orange badge that is actually kinda annoying.
I spend most of my time here because religion and spirituality interests me and concerns me greatly, because I have met people here that I enjoy reading answers and questions from, and because it really is the most entertaining section on this site.
nah, no hate mail, at least from the atheists. we know more about religion than most religious people because we've tried finding your god in most religions and still are looking. we've studied most of them, so we learned the facts about them.

Atheists know all about religion. That's what keeps them atheist.

Because there are more atheists here than any other religion. They ask the most stupid questions and only give best answers to people who tell them what they want to hear and agree with. The 'Top Contrib' badge is given to those who have a high number of best answers in a category and since an atheist will never give 10 points to a Christian, we have a hard time getting the badge of honor.
They will never admit this but atheism is their religion.
The trick to get the badge is careful selection of questions to answer. At least non-haters select honest answers.

Because man is a spiritual being, created in God's image. Some of them are curious, and many admit an interest in "spirituality", they just haven't brought themselves to accept that God IS "spirituality". I'm sure others are here simply to mock and scorn, like the Romans did at the Coliseum while the Christians got killed for sport, and they can give each other BA often enough to get that little orange banner.
We need to remember as Christians that they are as individual as we are. I would love to destroy them all in the manner of Abraham Lincoln; I read that President Lincoln once appointed a man to very high office who had publicly promised to destroy him. When Lincoln made this appointment, his advisors reminded him of this man's promise. Lincoln replied "Yes, I know, but he is the best man for the job, besides I have already destroyed him by appointing him. I have made him my friend."
To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a known civilization in the history of the world that did not worship SOMETHING they call "God". The Athenians even built an altar to him:
Act 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
Paul used this opportunity to tell them about THE God, and we need as Christians to be daily reminded of Biblical examples like Paul BEFORE we answer a single question on Yahoo. God help me to be less like my sarcastic self and more like Jesus. He must increase, I must decrease.
It's more comfortable to talk ABOUT something than to deal with the reality of it in your own life.
You can be very knowledgeable about one or even all the world's religions without practicing any yourself. Religion studies does not require one to be a believer.
Because unlike humans, the Top Contributor badge does not discriminate based on labels.

Just because someone does not believe in god does not mean they have no spirituality!
When will people realise this? We can answers questions on the topics because we have actually bothered to get off our bums and learn about things so we can understand and give rational reasons. Just because we do not agree with something does not mean that we do not know about it.
Now go to the Royalty Section and see if everyone is Royality.
They all need SOMETHING believe in.
I think they are drawn by that emptiness in their life and to fill it, they have to try to convince other people to have that emptiness too. That'll fix it!
Many of the atheists have a wide knowledge of religions and spirituality's. While as atheist they do not believe in God or gods, some are Buddhist and thus spiritual. I take it you did know Buddhism is atheistic religion.
So i think it is only fair that they get top contributor badges.
