How do I soothe the seething hatred that Atheists have
of God and religion? Can I mollify them with reason and

i like to think of it like this; i have something they do not and, they want it.
i attempt to give it to them but they turn there colective noses up at it, like a baby who is hungry but will not succkle.
Things that make atheists and maltheists irate are when theophiles think that acting like bullies or asking questions that are thinly veiled insults are good ways to convert people to the theophiles religion. I treat theophiles that act like jackasses the way they act.
Stop attacking and insulting us, and trying to convince us of something we know to be fiction; we ask no more than that.

Passages from the Bible...I do not accept these as arguable warrants, for in assuming that the Bible has no errors, you're, in essence, seeking to prove Fermat's theorem without any real mathematical ground-work.
Saying the Bible is the "Word of GOD" doesn't make it true for anyone but yourself. You accept the warrants therein. We do not.
Yeah, I can never figure out why so many atheists spend sooooo much time in 'Religion and Spirituality'.
Do they think its their 'job' to dis' anyone else that does have faith?

I think we get tired of being told we are evil, unkind, immoral people. I'm quite a nice person. I don't require religion to tell me that killing is wrong (for instance).
I can speak for almost all atheists when I say, we want to have MORE logical and factual discourse in society.

Maybe you're just seeing your own hatred. i see many posts asking why are people answering so angry and yet when I look it's all light hearted joking with a smattering of honest and serious answer and a couple of idiots thrown in.

Atheists do not spread hatred - people do. Atheism and hatred have nothing to do with one another, nor does any attribute. People are people, and they'll be how they are regardless of what they follow or believe.

Not all of them are, in fact I believe most of them are reasonable people, I enjoy reading some of their responses, very well thought and intelligent, but unfortunately the jerks stand out. The problem is many of the professing Christians here are the same way.

I think the verse from the Bible about putting coals of fire on their heads will work and that is referring to kindness and lots of prayer that God will work a miracle and touch their lives in a mighty way.

Atheists in general don't have a "seething hatred" of God and religion, so you have nothing to soothe.
I'm quite peaceful today. I've actually observed the believers being quite uppity and aggressive today though.
And, dear one, it's not your place to soothe anyone else. Only yourself. Worry about making you happy and you'll find far less to complain about.
well most ppl i know who are atheists, dont hate other ppl and their religions, just the way they go about trying to force it on others. and i doubt u can make atheists stop "hating" other religions.
Actually, if you practice your beliefs in private and don't try to affect other people's lives, there is no argument. The highest degree of respect is not caring about the beliefs of others.
It is a tool that has proven to be effective by groups such "act up" in the past.

The hardest thing to let go of for any ex-theist is dualism.
Some people no matter how far from religion they get see things in terms of good and evil, and surprise surprise those that disagree with them are seen as evil.
It becomes:
(Satan) is the cause of all suffering.
(Religion) is the cause of all suffering.
This doesn't apply to all of them but some people just need a name to blame.
