How come most "popular" gay celebrities deny their sexual orientation?
If the "so-called" top stars came out of the closet, wouldn't the prejudice against the LGBT society lessen?
No. It would decrease their marketability. Being gay publically isn't something that enhances careers despite Hollywood's embracing homosexuality.
Its all for the money... lets ask you....
1. you can stay in the closet and have a huge film career making over 10 millions dollars a picture...( rock hudson)
2. You can be out as a gay actor and get marginal str8 roles and mostly gay roles and make 100 times less money... ( Robert Gant, Peter Paige and so many other gay actors..)
Deal is whether we like it or not - if they see a gay actor playing a str8 role - ie: making out with a woman in bed.. all they can think about him is him getting f***ed the A** the entire time... For some str8s its such a vivid image that they can't get passed it.. now on the other hand if someone like brad pitt plats gay and has a love scene - we all get our rocks off...
just look at the stigma of Brokeback Mountain a great film but diddidn'tally make that much money... at all.. in tehtheheme of things....
Its cash and would have to say I dondon'tow whtwhethercould give up that pay check.. not many could...

no it would just give people a bad reason to hate those celebritys.
I guess if you're a chick it would be ok, but not for a guy. If you're a guy and you come out, you lose some of your fan base. If you're an actor, there's no way you'll get cast as a actor star. And imagine an openly gay male playing the part as a guy that sweeps a woman off her feet. I don't see it happening. The idea of movies is to make it believable and society won't accept a gay guy playing those roles. It's sad but it's true.
let me tell you, guys who do not admit who they are will not get a dime from me. i never supported clay aiken, but since he came out - now i will spend money on him. i will see his concerts, etc. celebs can't survive without money from the public. don't forget that. there is nothing worse than a coward.
there are more gay people out there like me, than you know. trust me. gay people are also homophobic. don't support homophobia of any kind.
Because they live in a largely homophobic society, but still need to work. I think most celebrities are out to their family and friends, but don't shout it from the rooftops to all and sundry because they are liable to be pigeonholed.
