Why do so many find it so hard to believe we went to the Moon?

Published by: anonym 2009-01-09

  • What scientific evidence suggests that we DIDN'T go?

Im curious to know how people could actually believe this.

What evidence are they basing this on?

How could it be possible to fake the launch of a huge rocket which millions saw, fake transmissions everyone heard and tracked, and fake a landing that was televised live to billions? Not to mention the return, the samples, and the retro-reflecters?

  • Too much skepticism and conspiracy theories and the need to keep up appearances of an "Educated" and "not gullible" public.

I mean.. IF - OK? IF... they didn't go to the moon, and it was all faked and "filmed" here on Earth, why bother with all the other missions - especially when those mission didn't get any great media coverage and ratings. They would just did the "landing" and pack up the film studio and forget about it rather than spending more millions into fake landings and failed mission (Apollo 13).

I remembered as a kid in Bangkok, went to see the moon rock. Why bother spending millions of dollars sending fake rocks all around the world with all the security and (at the time) state of the art technology to keep it sterile?

Some of the above answers are good too.

    Cheers

  • seven, seven is the answer to everything.

haha just kidding. i don't know what i'm saying.

well i'm with you! I don't believe it either!
WOO HOO! For all we know it could have been done inside
    of a stage studio...

  • some people like to jump on bandwagons and be party poopers

  • 1. There where no stars
    2. The American flag was waving
    3. There was no blast crater as a result of apollo landing
    4. The shadows of the astronomers were in different direction. This is not possible since sun is the only source for moon.
Many more reasons for beleiving the Moon landing to be Fake.

  • Its hard to believe because of this ;;
How come all those years ago when we had so little technology people were somehow had the ability to be sent to the moon. Come on, calculators probably weren't even invented yet. Now though, we have all this technology and more knowldge than before but you know what we haven't sent another person to the moon?
    Why is that?

I'm not saying it didn't happen but i'm just trying to answer your question.

  • I think the simple answer is that those people are not rational in the sense you are.
they don't believe because they don't want to be rational in the sense you and any other person believing in travel to moon are.
the y might even deny the whole process of your proof.

  • so significant an event why don't NASA just rpt it and shut everyone up,$ a big factor.

  • Simple: They're all retards.

I've always found it very interesting that people have no problem believing that an imaginary brown dwarf will collide with Earth in 2012 despite any observational evidence, yet they are so quick to believe that the moon landings, which were among the best documented historical events in recent history, were faked.
How many people do you know that believe in the Moon Haox My ::

There is no SCIENTIFIC evidence that we didn't go. There is tons of pseudo-scientific ideas that these morons feel is a good piece of "evidence", all of which we've debunked on this forum, and the Mythbusters debunked on national TV. Yet some die hard conspiracy theories (coughretardscough) still insist that it's faked.

People are gullible. As soon as you google "moon landing", in big bold letters is has a recommended search "moon landing hoax":

    http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&re...

I'm ashamed of Google for this. I should write into them!

There are two main pieces of PROOF the moon landings were real.

    1. Retroreflectors any amateur astronomer with a powerful enough laser could utilize were left on the moon by three Apollo missions. And they've been confirmed by the Mythbusters.

    2. It is impossible to fake them. I've seen the largest backdrop Hollywood has, personally from around a half mile away. With my camera, I zoomed into it to get it into a full screen view. If I zoomed in any more, I noticed an unnatural change in the objects on it. So obviously this was a backdrop. In order for this effect to not be noticeable, it would have to be at least a couple miles away. That would be multiple times larger than the largest backdrop created.

The light is also WAY too intense in the moon landing footage than it could be from any sort of man made light. It would have to be from the sun. So instead of the moon landings being impossible to carry out, they're impossible to fake.

Billions of people around the world watched as man stepped foot on the moon, and some ignorant retards sit back saying "oh that was faked". The event was probably too complex for their tiny little brains to figure out.

474,000 websites say the moon landings were faked.
576,000 websites say the moon landings were real.

Looks like we're winning gradually now. And in the end, we will win. I just hope a law comes out that says non-intelligent people can't breed.

  • HUH??????????????????????

  • Some of us know that the Army Space Corps.were there previous to the commercial NASA program and subsequently have no confidence what so ever in media supported events.

  • Ignorance and years of liberalised education.

  • Sometimes it's just more interesting to believe something is fake. like all that stuff about 9/11 and Elvis being still alive, etc. What do think makes better movies fact or fiction?

  • It makes them feel smarter than everyone else by saying they're the ones smart enough to see the 'conspiracy'.
To a great deal of people, how an idea makes them feel is far more important than how true it is.

I read a study last night about how stupid people overestimate their smarts way more than smart people do, tend to think they're smarter than everyone else (and tend to think the truly smart are REALLY stupid), and tend to hold on to their beliefs in spite of whatever evidence to the contrary.

  • I suspect it is mostly people who have such empty lives and have done so little themselves, that it pains them to accept that others have gone out and done great things. I guess it is closely related to jealousy.

  • some ppl can be ostinate and stupid and go on following wierd religious beliefs...anyways u can go to

as u will see, there's a link theere to another page

  • I think it is mostly the urge for attention of some people. There is no scientific evidence, but the Apollo hoax already started before the launch pads cooled down.

  • It keeps on cropping up here as part of a fundamentalist Christian propaganda effort to assert and adhere to some rigid tenets of belief that have become outmoded by scientific advances of the last 500 years:

    1) Geocentrism (the belief that the Earth is the centre of the Universe)

    2) Creationism (the belief that the earth was created just over 6,000 years ago)

    3) Exceptionalism (the belief that life exists on earth and nowhere else in the Universe, as to accept the latter would diminish mankind as unique and diminish God as having created it)

    (4) The belief that we were born to live on this earth and that to aspire to leave it is somehow sinful and interferes with God's purpose for us.

A more extreme version of point 4 is to believe that it is impossible to leave the earth, which would lead to querying Sputnik, weather satellites, Yuri Gagarin, and the Space Shuttle, too. Which doesn't by and large happen, so I think the propagandists have simply concentrated their firepower on the Moon landings because they were less of a routine, everyday occurrence.

Mind you within twenty years, with several nations aspiring to go to the Moon, to mine the helium-3 carried there by the Solar Wind, to be able to build nuclear fusion reactors that use it and power interplanetary travel that way, the propaganda will become much harder to sustain, once it is a routine everyday occurrence.

  • Green cheese. Green Cheese is the answer. Did they bring any back? NO. One would think that if humans had landed on the moon, they would have brought back some green cheese. Not to mention the man in the moon. Surely he would have sent back a "thanks for calling' card.
What will be the next thing they try to pull? Greenhouse gasses? Global Warming? Climate Change? B/s artists, the lot of 'em.

  • because there are many people who are ignorant and are gullible. there is definitive proof we were on the moon. I guess that isn't good enough.

  • In the Koran(The holy book of Islam) said Prophet Muhammad (PBH)
Said in the future there is going to be many technology. One of the technology he mentioned was people will have machines that will take them to the moon in the future. Not to mention the Koran was written hundreds of years ago. In conclusion that there was no lie about the Moon traveling in the year 1969.

  • the younger group out there today have no idea what it means to use their brains to plan, calculate and devise..... if you'd hand them a slide rule, they'd tap a rythm with it.... they grew up with computers and calculators and color tv and have no idea that 'before' any of what they know was available, that folks could actually do WITHOUT all that stuff and still perform science......

it's not worth anyone's time to try to convince those who think it was faked.... let them stew in their disbelief.... they don't have to believe.. they can continue to be the UN-pitiable laughing-stock of these forums for as long as they like........

  • Perhaps people want to believe they have been lied to, and then seek the (apparent) enlightening intelligence of those who point out those (non) lies. Maybe, if you (successfully) reveal a (make believe) conspiracy, you are showing the (ignorant/uneducated) believers that you are smarter than the conspirators, and the public will appreciate your (illusion of) intelligence for pointing it out.

    I don't know, just a guess.
