I wish it were true, but my experience here suggests that there's at least three times as many christians as there are atheists here.
It certainly seems to change at different times of day as well.
But, it is quite clear to me that the christians are in the majority here.
Do some of them feel outnumbered because they're not used to having to validate their beliefs to so many people and they somehow feel cornered?

True Christians do not need to validate anything. See, when you have something to stand on you don't need anything else. When you don't you swing your arms wildly grasping at straws to get a grip. As a christian , or a Buddhist, or Muslim, I don't need to convince you, I would like you to because as a fellow human I'd like you to feel as fulfilled as I do but it is your call.

That fits with my observations and experience. I've been keeping a mental tally since I first saw that claim, 3 times sounds about right.
My current working hypotheses as the why are:
1) So many questions are directed to or are about atheists. At times they come fast and thick. That will definitely skew perceptions.
2) The non-fundamentalist Christians don't always identify themselves as such. I've accidentally mistaken a couple for atheists, I'm sure the fundies are quick to as well, simply for having different points of view.
3) Many fundies seem to think that a single atheist is too many.
We can add yours to the list as well. It's really just another way of phrasing my 3).
LOL. I am not into numbers. Atheists are loud though, I think. I think that Atheists generally have good points. I have my faith and I do feel cornered ever. I do not let anyone else to "validate" my belief. This is personal decision.
I agree that we have more Christians here.
