I'm an atheist with complete confidence and security in that belief. I have no interest therefore in mocking or attempting to debunk other's beliefs. I'm aware that by coming to R & S I have willingly subjected myself to religious banter. I accept that as my own responsibility. Why do so many "atheists" here resort to badgering the religious folks and claim that the religious folks are trying to force their beliefs on them when it's the atheists themselves who have come here, unprompted or provoked, of their own volition.
I've noticed that the atheists gather in cliques. Is the need for some sort of acceptance the catalyst behind the "bullying"?
Maybe you don't see it as "bullying". But, as an outside observer, rest assured you are an embarrassment to atheists and to the "spirit" of atheism.

Don't take it so seriously, it's an internet site. If people consider this bullying they must have it real hard in the real world where people can do more then say something mean then you can block them.
im an atheist and i just come to R/S to have some fun,
unprovoked? religious people provoke me everyday (in real life). Anyway, i mostly come here because i love argument.
I used to be a fundamentalist christian, but I was in love with logic and debate. I debated a lot and it was my policy that to beat my enemy in debate, I must understand their arguments as if they were my own. Best way to debunk is to understand.
Unfortunately, as I learned the meaning of the atheists' arguments, i realized they were logically superior and more sound. When I finally admitted this to myself, I became an agnostic... from there i became an atheist.
The same basic instincts drive me though. I love debate. Love it so much that I continue to debate about things i'm sure I won't change my mind on, but you never know... I once believed i would never change my mind about God. I once believe the atheists were foolish.
I'm just like anybody else. I'm doing this because I love searching for answers.
And i must add, it really is just fun sometimes :] and as an atheist, i feel i must vocalize against this

We mean they're imposing their beliefs OUTSIDE this forum - in real life, on a daily basis which is WHY we came here to discuss it.
And some atheist you are, calling it a belief.
Frankly, I think that more atheists should BE active about their "non-belief".
Christians have no problem "praising Jesus" publicly, but most atheists keep their opinions silent, which is one reason that you will never see an atheist running for high office.
That needs to change.

I think this goes beyond this specific issue for you. You are passive aggressive and have a tough time with confrontation, and thus are upset when others seem to enjoy it. Believe it or not, religion is an interesting topic, even for atheists. Some atheists actually enjoy debating and confronting and educating those that are religious. I might suggest you enroll in a debate class in the local college or perhaps dabble in psychiatric counseling so as to confront your issues with confrontation. Good luck!
