Are we masochists? Ever since I strayed into this realm, I have received a thumbs down for every answer (which never happened before, boo-hoo). So how about a total boycott brothers (and sisters)?
I'm an atheist but I don't bash people here anymore.
I don't feel bashed. Thumbs down reinforce my beliefs. They tell me I hit a nerve and moved somebody, made them think. My skin is much too thick to let anyone on this board hurt my feelings. And if you're a Christian in disguise trying to get Atheists off R&S, nice try.

Because all knowledge is worth having, and many religious beliefs are causing naught but harm unto other people. you're not the only one's getting bashed, and atheists do bashing as well. My religion (Mormon) gets bashed nearly every time it gets brought up. So do a lot of other sects. If you don't like it, then you can leave- but I don't see the other atheists following you, sorry. not to sound callous, but its an open forum. people are free to express themselves however they chose.

It's not just atheists
You see, it isn't just atheists who like the spotlight or the paddle in this case, uh-uh, some 'believers' do go overboard sometimes and guess what, they seem to have wallowed in the mire of trash talk too. Some people are just plain jumpy I guess.

The short answer is that I see far too much superstition in the world in so many forms, and I see how it harms us every day. The world would be a much better place if people didn't need to sacrifice truth for the sake of comfort. If I can provide even the slightest candle in the dark (to use Carl Sagan's phrase), I'm happy to do it.
