how do I fix that so it doesnt show as a date?
right click format set as text or number only

Try this, format the cell you want 11/20. go to Format (on your toolbar), click cells. Under catagory click on TEXT, click okay. Hopefully this is what you are looking for. Have a great day!
Highlight the cell(s) you want to fix, go to "Format/Cells" and change format from date to text or type the cell contents between quote marks ( "11/20" ).
