Because the earlier generations understood what commitment is all about. They knew that marriage is instituted by God. And marry because of love and the commitment it brings.
The present generation is characterized by loose morals and have children out of wedlock - I mean, the majority of them. Or maybe, there are more distractions that they barely have time to date.
And then also there is the question of economics.
They do not want to take unnecessary responsibilities.
Because the laws as they are enforced currently make marriage the equivalent of legal and financial suicide, if you're a man.

Because since society has moved away from God, it has embraced this lifestyle as normal.
because they have smartened up!!! Marriage is not what life is all about...if you can find true love and marry then great, but this generation is living life to the fullest and having careers and travelling and just enjoying this life!!!!

Many people are establishing their careers buying houses and paying off debts so they are waiting longer to get married. Also, there are many people that are involved in non-traditional relationships.. For instance living with bf/gf or have children together. Or it's illegal for them to marry.
Learn from other's mistakes. They have learnt their lessons from their parents marriage.

They realize that marriage is nothing but a piece of paper that the government uses for tax puposes. They realize that people can have love, a commitment, and children without getting married and still be happy.
We've become disillusioned by our parents generation. Growing up I could count on one hand the number of friends parents that were on their first marriage.

In general I would say that this society has moved away from the Lord so that fornication and adultery are becoming more and more acceptable. With that the status of marriage is lowered significantly.
Adding to this is the high divorce rate.
It seems as if their own comfort was far more important than the will of the Lord. I am of the opinion that every marriage can be saved even at the brink of divorce.
They are interested. The divorce rate is high, but lovers keep getting married. To many it is a lifetime commitment, that's not gonna go away.
The present generation is scared of marriage due to the divorce rate,
but marriage has always been scary without faith.
Well MAYBE if I could meet a man that met up to my standards I'd consider it, but I am not selling myself short... I can provide for myself! I dont think people are ment to be alone... I just think that we're a more independent generation so it allows us to be slightly more picky... and picky I am!
