Why when white beans are cooked there are some that turn very black?

Beans look fine, but when cooked some turn jet black. What would cause this. I haven't had that happen. Are you going through them and picking out the bad ones and any debris first? It might be that a couple of bad beans slipped through. I think you'd know if they were scorched or burned because of the terrible smell and taste. Do the black ones taste different?

Sorry, but that's all I've got. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has had this happen and solved the mystery.
