What would be the most powerful engine that would fit in that space and work with the transmission. Or would an upgraded trans be in order too? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it is but it probably will not pass smog. Also, it will be very costly. The best thing you could do is to stick with a Honda motor. I think you should buy an Acura RSX-S (K20) motor and build it from top to bottom with everything you can. If you put that into an Integra it will pull so hard. That motor will fit your engine bay. You will need a new transmission (just get the RSX-S transmission).

If you ask me the best thing to do is add parts to your existing engine. However you could modify a small V8 into one but it will cost you.
