Hi,
I just upgraded from php4.03pl1 to 4.04.
I use bware abcache, so I upgraded it also.
After restarting apache with the php module loaded, it seems to work fine.
However, after looking in my apache error.log, here is what I was able to find:

Do you know from where it might come from ?
Should I go back to 4.03pl1 that didn't gave me these errors ?
Thanks,
Yes, its definetely not a VB error, since the problem vanished after reverting to 4.03pl1. Feel free to move this message to the server configuration forum.
Ok.
So.
Chris :)
I suspect the binary I grabed for my OS to be badly compiled.
Maybe I can try to compil it myself. But what are the process involved in compiling ? I really don't understand this compiling stuff. How will compiling affect the created binary (thats the goal of compiling to create a binary right ?) depending on my os version ?! See, I miss the basics of compiling. Is it very important to compil on my OS to use a binary on my OS ?
Here is what I was able to read on the php.net to install php site:
1. gunzip apache_1.3.x.tar.gz
2. tar xvf apache_1.3.x.tar
3. gunzip php-x.x.x.tar.gz
4. tar xvf php-x.x.x.tar
5. cd apache_1.3.x
6. ./configure --prefix=/www
7. cd ../php-x.x.x
8. ./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.x --enable-track-vars
9. make
10. make install
11. cd ../apache_1.3.x
12. for PHP 3: ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
for PHP 4: ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
13. make
14. make install
Instead of this step you may prefer to simply copy the httpd binary
overtop of your existing binary. Make sure you shut down your
server first though.
15. cd ../php-x.x.x
16. for PHP 3: cp php3.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php3.ini
for PHP 4: cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php.ini
Should stopping to 14 enough to have the binaries .so ?
If I do step 1-->14 will it create the binary ? I would not like doing 1-->14 to touch any file I currently run php4 with. Will 1-->14 modify anything outside the directory i'm compiling in ?
Thanks,
I thought there was a pl1 now for PHP 4.0.4?
Those errors are Apache errors, not abcache errors. A segmentation fault on Unix is the same thing as a GPF on Windows... it's a memory related error. This could be caused by:
An incorrectly compiled program executable (compiled for the wrong platform, or the wrong version).
A version mis-match between two programs (ie Apache and PHP).
Hardware memory problem (very unlikely since you just changed software).
If I understand you correctly then these are not vbulletin errors, and not a vbulletin question. So this is probably not the right forum. ;)
Update: the problem is not comming from abcache since I get the same error even if I disable it :/
