What is Write Combing?
I got a new 19inch LCD, (20 ms response time, 800:1 contrast ratio)
and i noticed when playing videogames / movies it didnt perform that
well. It froze up for half a second every now and then. I have an
ATI X300 (128 mb) 3d graphics videocard.
I played with a couple settings, and when I turned Write Combing off,
my LCD performed a lot better. What did that do? (from a technical
standpoint).

Write combing is also known as Write combining.
This is a process by which data transfer performance is made more
efficient by collecting and caching data to minimize the number of
writes needed. As games live and die by speedy video updates, this
type of data optimization (which is fine for other types of programs)
can make game performance jerky.
