just loaded xbmc , tried to load avi movies from a memorex dvd-r 4.7, but it keeps saying "invalid path" what steps can be taken so i can play avi's on xbmc

i have not changed any settings in xbmc
well, ideally u shouldn't have to do anything special.
just enter my videos, select the dvd bookmark, then select your file and off u go.

make sure to burn the dvd using iso9660, drop all udf things since the xbox only supports udf-128 (the subset of udf used on video dvds).
this means; do not tick the 'xbox compability' box if u use nero.

to diagnoze your problem, hold x+y as xbmc start, try to play the file, then see the file xbmc.log in your xbmc directory. or u can paste it on pastebin.com and give the url here, then i can have a look at it.
