Just an idea, and I actually have no idea just how much work it would entail for the people who actually did all this stuff, but a Xmas theme like this forum's (http://www.ffwa.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20) would make this place seem so much more festive. I wouldn't quite suggest the same eye-jarring colors.
At the very least, we could put Xmas hats on our avvies, or whatever would make your avvie more Xmasy.
I'll put up my altered avvie, courtesy of Elena's effort. Although, for those that know a bit about photoshopping or some other program, adding a hat or some other wouldn't be so much effort.
