I have a Xircom Rex 5000 PDA and need an xp driver for my computer. Currently my computer does not recognize the Rex pc card when I slide it into the computer. I am unable to sync the data on my computer (names, addresses, and calendar)with the Rex card. Can you help me locate an xp driver that will allow the transfer of data?

  • Hello and thank you for your question. Xircom has been acquired by Intel. Although Intel does not provide a Windows XP driver for the Xircom Rex 5000, they do provide a Windows NT solution for the Rex 5000. I am assuming that the NT solution will work for XP as follows: Support for the Rex 3000 or 5000 Series in the PCMCIA slot with Microsoft Windows NT* Workstation 4.0 is now available from SystemSoft. SystemSoft CardWizard* version 5.10.06 (or above) and an additional file called SYSREX.EXE are required. The SYSREX is a self-extracting executable file and can be found at http://www.systemsoft.com/l-2/l-3/products-cardwizard-cards.shtml. Search this page for the word Rolodex to find the Xircom section quicker. In the 'Xircom Rex Rolodex' section (near the bottom), click Additional Drivers to download this file. Enable support for the PCMCIA socket for your Rex as follows: 1. Install Starfish TrueSync* from your CD. 2. Install the latest SystemSoft CardWizard* version (5.10.06 or above). 3. Run the SYSREX.EXE file. This file will extract other files (including SYSSOFT.EXE) that, unless otherwise directed, will be placed in the C:SYSREX folder. 4. Run the SYSSOFT.EXE file. This will upgrade your Windows NT 4.0 system with CardWizard to use REX 3000 and 5000 series cards along with TrueSync. Enable Rex 3000 or 5000 Series in the PC Card Slot with Microsoft Windows NT http://support.intel.com/support/peripherals/sb/cs-003603-prd45.htm Please give this a try, and let me know how it goes via the Request for Clarification. If it does not work, I will ask the Editors to make sure you are not charged for this answer. Sincerely, Richard-ga

  • In response to your answer. I am not a techy, so I need to ask some simple questions. I have Microsoft xp on my computer. As I understand your answer you want me to install Microsoft NT in addition. SystemsSoft charges $100 for NT version 5.2, so I want to be sure I understand. Once NT is installed, and SYSREX downloaded, will my xp still be operational? Thank you, myronlc

  • Hello: No, I'm not suggesting that you install Windows NT. It's just that Windows NT and Windows XP are very similar, and I'm hoping that the fix described for a computer with NT will work on a computer with XP. For safety sake, XP has a feature called Restore - - so that if any problem arises, you can easily restore your computer to how it was. So please set a restore point, as described below, before you start installing the new files. To manually set system restore points, follow these directions. 1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, then System Tools. 2. Click System Restore to launch the System Restore wizard. 3. Select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button. 4. Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "Before I added new drivers." 5. Click Create. Good luck - - tell me how it goes - - remember, since I can't guarantee that an NT solution will work on an XP operating system, if it does not work I will ask the Google Answers editors to remove this answer so that you will not be charged (apart from your 50 cent listing fee). -R
