I find that songs are the most difficult thing to translate (except from poems, which I haven’t tried out yet). In this one I’m having problems with almost every line because I find 2 different ways to interpret the meaning of almost every line. I dunno if it's because i'm not native or if even natives would have (some of) the same thoughts as me when reading the song. I hope you can enlighten me. Also please bear with my english expressions, as I'm not native. I guess some of them may be incorrect but I think you will understand what I mean :cool:

Kimaru has 2 meanings:
- decide
- to look good (on clothes) [this one, I didn’t know until I read it in the dictionary]
So depending on the meaning here are my 2 interpretations:
- If you raise your head, and decide to dress elegantly, look! how wonderful you become.
- If you raise your head and look good elegantly (kind of weird, so I guess this time kimaru means “decide”?), look! how wonderful you become.
Here's what I interpret when I read the song:
So the thing is, this girl has plain looks and plain character (apparently) but the guy who sings the song thinks she's the most wonderful. She looks kind of gloomy, but there is something inside her which the guy has discovered and that is why he likes about her, which makes him think she's (the most) wonderful.
Besides, she always walks with her head looking down and such, but when she dresses elengatly her appearances makes a 180º change from dasai to kakkoii. And he says in the last line: You see! How beautiful you really are (if you take care of your appearance).
I frequently have problems knowing who the person speaks about, too. Like in this song (i've mentioned in a couple of lines I don't know who is the guy speaking about: he/she/in general). I know the general rule is that the person speaks about him/herself if he doesn't specify anything. But still, and even more times in a song, I don't know who the speaker is refering to. Can you give me any tip, please?
