I stream my music from my server and the Zune has modified all of my folder.jpg files forcing a reduced album art display within XBMC.
I read a similar complaint related to WMP11 in that it makes a mess of one's "folder.jpg" collection. Not only does it downsize the resolution to 240 X240, but it also hides the file so that it can't be unhidden. Simply showing hidden files isn't enough you have to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" under folder options/view.
So, since we can't solve this issue on microsoft's end, could we allow user enabled option for folder thumb naming. Such as XBMC_albumart.jpg instead of folder.jpg.
I use AlbumArtAggregator_1.4 to download my album art directly into my music folders. It accesses amazon.com to obtain album art and it has a user option to change the album art from folder.jpg to whatever you wish.
Before I attempt to recreate my 300 cd album art collection I would like to know if this has been addressed already?
Thanks you're right... should have checked the manual... I conducted a search for folder.jpg and it did list advancesettings.xml 5th. The manual provided more info than you did but I don't think I would have known to look for the xml that doesn't exist. If it isn't a common request I wouldn't change a thing. However, if you start to see a trend, I would use this scenerio as an example when describing the capabilities of this particular xml within the online manual.
I have a username/password for the manual and have put things in there from time to time, but I doubt my need isn't the primary use for this XML. So, I won't add it discriptive intro unless you feel it warrants it.
Will XBMC always support the advancesettings.xml containing my new album art info? I would hate to go through the trouble if of changing my entire collection for nothing.
And yes, it will always have the option to do this. We hardly ever remove features, and when we do, it's just about always because there's either a better way to do it, or that it just plain doesn't work any more and no one is available to maintain it.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Sure. It's already there in fact.
You can set them in AdvancedSettings.xml
See the online manual for more, and please suggest places in the manual where we could highlight this fact.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Well, it definately belongs in the Album Art & Thumbnails section of Music, and the Folder Thumbnails section of Thumbnails. I have added some info.
